Comic Book Love

This past weekend, Joanna and I attended the 2010 FanExpo in Toronto. Way before we even started dating, one of the first things we discovered we had in common was a love of comic books. And a respect for the one and only Stan Lee. So it was inevitable that we would attend some sort of comic convention together.

It was really packed, which made it difficult to get around, and to really see some of the booths. But, we forged on, both determined to see, and maybe meet Stan Lee. (which we did!) The second day was a little more relaxed and we got to enjoy seeing some comic book artists at work.

I definitely hope we go again another year. Now that we have been there, we know what to expect and next time we'll be able to plan our weekend better.

All in all, it was a fabulous weekend, and there is no one I would have rather been there with than Joanna.

It's Okay To Have Differences!

As mentioned in, "Love and Rock and Roll," yesterday Jeff and I went to see Fozzy.  In the past I have wanted to go to events or go out and do things, but because my interests contrast with people around was not able to go.  I didn't want Jeff to have to miss out, because a friend became unavailable.  I didn't feel that it was a good reason to miss something that meant so much to him.
Jeff and I have many things in common, but we differ in a great many ways as well.  Particularly in our tastes in media entertainment.  In the car, we often take turns with our ipods.  So I had heard Fozzy before the concert at the Circle of Friends Festival.  And while I still couldn't make out a word they were saying, I have to admit they were rather entertaining.  Chris Jericho does have a rather interesting stage presence.  And while I watched my husband rocking out to his hero, I could see that he was not the only one who was thrilled to be there.  I would have to say I kinda enjoyed myself, and if it wasn't for our differences I wouldn't have gone and wouldn't have opened myself to this new experience.

Love And Rock & Roll

Today, the band Fozzy was playing in Hamilton On. I had planned to go with one of my best friends but last weekend he told me he wouldn't be able to make it. I figured that if he couldn't go, then I wouldn't. A few days ago, I mentioned to Joanna that I wasn't going, and why. She looked at me and said,"But you were lookng so forward to it." I told her that's true, but who was I going to go with? She looked me right in the eye and said, "I'll go." It should be mentioned now that Fozzy is a metal band, and for the most part their music isn't something Joanna would enjoy. She knew this going into it, but she went anyways. She went because she knew how much I wanted to go. She went because she knew I wouldn't go alone. She went because she loves me. And I love her, with all of my heart.

By the way, the concert rocked!

Hairbrush Romance

MM,

The moment I realized I was in love with Jeff was one cold winter day when I returned home from class to find a brand new hairbrush and a bottle of coke with a little gift ribbon and card.  It was meant a lot to me, because it showed that he was listenning/paying attention when I had not been able to find my hairbrush that morning and a coke that morning.
Today, four years later when getting ready to go to work my loving husband picked up my hairbrush and saw that it was a little worse for wear.  So when he brought me a rootbeer at work, he also dropped off a new hairbrush.  He is so sweet!
